Celebrating the 5th Anniversary of Stockwell Street

In 2019 we celebrated our fifth anniversary.

What can be expected in future?

Whilst celebrating the past and present of Stockwell Street Library, it's also important to look towards the developments that can be made in the future.

A key feature of the library's design is for it to be able to evolve with the ever changing face of University education, so what can be expected in the next few years?

Updated technology

A big focus for the coming year at Stockwell Street Library is improving the facilities available to our students to use whilst they are studying with us at the University of Greenwich. Many of the new projects being completed in the very near future are aimed at improving the technology available in the library.

Some improvements coming soon are:

  • The installation of new Canon Multi-Functional Devices (MFDs) this September, providing an integrated printing service across the campuses.
  • The Lapsafe borrowing system came this October, providing 60 self-service laptops assigned to student's library accounts. The laptops are available for use in the library, with approximately 10 hours of battery life.
  • Contactless borrowing also came into force, allowing the student to borrow items from the library catalogue simply by tapping their card at a self-issue point.
  • 100 new PCs have been installed this year to replace the older models, with the silent area's being the main focus. The next wave of 100 PCs will be installed Summer 2020.
