One of my favourite spots around Avery Hill campus is Avery Hill Park, a lovely park that is right next to the campus. When things get overwhelming, it is lovely to be able to walk a circuit of the park especially with all the regreening projects and dogs out on walks. They have recently reopened the Winter Gardens a beautiful conservatory that is a must see and free to visit! Another great activity in Eltham is to look around the many great charity shops, where you can find something nice for a bargain price, it also is a great chance to sample the many coffee shops around Eltham high street. My final recommendation would be to visit the Tudor Barn in Well Hall Pleasaunce, a beautiful historic building which dates to the 16th Century, it also happens to do great afternoon tea, food and a classic Sunday roast!
Greenwich is a beautiful historic hub within London. It is quite difficult to limit the recommendations because there is so much to do here! Some activities that come to mind is a visit to the Prince of Greenwich Museum pub, one of the quieter pubs in Greenwich, and as the name suggests is home to a lovely collection of historical items, a good selection of drinks, and a great food menu including lots of gluten free options. A good activity for a free day would be to do the Thames walk from Greenwich centre to the O2 - it’s a beautiful walk that gives amazing views of Canary Wharf, there are a few pubs along the way too! The O2 is a great venue for live music and comedy, but there is also an outlet centre with discounted goods from big brands, bowling, cinema, and experiences like climbing the O2. One final recommendation is to cross the river using the old foot tunnel by the Cutty Sark ship, this takes you next to Mudchute Farm, here you can see some cute animals including sheep, goats, cows, and donkeys.
