LinkedIn Learning at the University of Greenwich
Introduction
LinkedIn Learning is available free to all University of Greenwich staff and students.
It offers thousands of expert-led courses across digital skills, software, teaching practice, leadership, wellbeing, and more.
Tutors can recommend courses, embed links in Moodle, and curate collections that align with programme outcomes.
How to access
- Go to https://www.linkedin.com/learning-login
- Select “Sign in with your organisation” (or equivalent), then choose University of Greenwich.
- Use your University of Greenwich username and password (single sign-on).
Important: Always sign in with your Greenwich account.
You may be asked whether you want to link your personal LinkedIn profile with your Greenwich LinkedIn Learning account.
This is optional. If you choose to link, your learning history can travel with your LinkedIn profile
should you leave the University. If you prefer not to link, you’ll still have full access through your Greenwich login.
You can also use the LinkedIn Learning mobile app and sign in via your organisation (University of Greenwich) with your university credentials.
What is a curator?
Curators are staff who create playlists/collections, recommend resources, and align LinkedIn Learning content to modules and assessments.
Curation helps students find exactly the right materials at the right time.
LinkedIn Certifications guide
Certificates of Completion
- Automatically generated when you complete all videos in a course or learning path.
- Included in your LinkedIn Learning access — no extra fees.
- Not accredited or officially endorsed by third parties; best used as evidence of completion.
Professional Certificates
- Provide skill validation and are developed with trusted providers.
- Courses and required assessments are included in your LinkedIn Learning access (no extra payment).
- Attempts: Most Professional Certificate exams allow up to three attempts; specifics can vary by provider.
Certification Preparation
- 500+ prep courses cover third-party, proctored exams (e.g. Adobe, Oracle, Microsoft).
- Prep courses are included in your access, but the external exam fee is not and must be paid to the exam provider.
Key takeaways
- Certificates issued by LinkedIn Learning (Certificates of Completion, Professional Certificates) are generally included at no extra cost.
- Third-party exam fees are separate from your LinkedIn Learning access.
Key points for tutors
- Ensure students use the Greenwich sign-in route (not a personal subscription).
- Use curation to surface the right courses at the right time for your module.
- Set expectations: Completion Certificates ≠ accreditation; signpost Professional Certificates and exam-prep where appropriate.
- Remind students that linking a personal LinkedIn profile is optional but can preserve learning history beyond their time at Greenwich.
