Places to study within our Library buildings and around campus

Bookable Study Spaces at Stockwell Street Library

We have spaces for various sized groups at both Avery Hill and Stockwell Street Libraries. The following is a quick guide to the information required when making a booking:

  • All bookings should be made with with your short form email address it XX123X@gre.ac.uk.
  • Each student has 2, 1 hour slots in either the same space or a different space.
  • Please include the full names of all group members when submitting a booking.

At Stockwell Street Library you can book the following spaces:

  • 3 Rooms with a minimum capacity of 2 and a maximum capacity of 8
  • 6 Rooms with a minimum capacity of 2 and a maximum capacity of 6

All rooms with a maximum capacity of 6 or 8 contain PCs with 55" screens*, additional power sockets and HD adaptors. These rooms are wheelchair accessible.    *2004 contains a 65" touch screen

  • 4 Sofa Booths  with a minimum capacity of 2 and a maximum capacity of 4

Sofa booths are located towards the back of the ground floor. The RED sofa booths were added to this system recently following extensive student feedback.

  • 3 Glass Pods with a minimum and maximum capacity of 2

One on the first floor and two in the second floor. 

  • 4 Individual Glass Pods with a minimum and maximum capacity of 1

lThese are ideal if you need to work on your own and you can't find the privacy you need. These pods are unique in the university and are labelled A,B,C and D,

Bookable study space at Avery Hill Library

At Avery Hill the following spaces are available for you to book:

  • 4 rooms with a minimum capacity of 2 and a maximum capacity of 5
  • 1 room with a minimum capacity of 2 and a maximum capacity of 7

Bookable Study Spaces at Drill Hall Library

Block A

DA002, DA004, DA005 Bookable and Open Access Study Rooms

These rooms provides an ideal space to practice your presentation skills. 

DA004 and DA005 rooms can be booked during Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm in two hour time slots at the Drill Hall Reception desk in person, by emailing dhlhelp@medway.ac.uk or calling 01634 883878. Occupancy of these rooms are limited to 20 students at any one time.

DA002 is an Open Access room and is available on a first come, first served basis with no need to book. It can hold up to 3 separate groups of 6 students.

Access to these ground floor rooms is via the external door at the Pilkington end of the Drill Hall Library. You cannot gain access from the main library.

Facilities available

  • DA002 - flexible seating for up to 20, PC, digital projector and a DVD/VHS player.
  • DA004/005 - interactive touchscreens, wireless presentation facilities and a large 10-seat table.

Block C

Access seven further rooms from the Group Zone.

Facilities available

  • DC105 and DC019, designed for group working - three large plectrum-shaped tables, a wall-mounted 42-inch screen with seating for up to eight students. Additional tables are available.
  • DC016 and DC017, more private group working - technobooths.
  • DC107 and DC117, training rooms - computers*.
  • DC118 - quiet study space.

*When they are not booked for training these rooms are available for quiet study.
