We welcome visitors from:
  • Our Partner Colleges
  • Clinical Staff in NHS Hospital Trusts (Avery Hill and Medway libraries only)

We are unable to offer access to students from Local schools, Sixth form Colleges, Colleges of Further Education and UTC's.

Please note that no animals may be brought into the libraries apart from registered assistance dogs.

Alumni

Library access and Borrowing

 
All members of the University of Greenwich Alumni community can access our libraries 
There is a £30 fee for a year's membership.  This includes:
  • Access to all 3 libraries for a year
  • Use of open study spaces
  • Up to 5 loans at any one time
  • Wi-Fi access

Please note: Alumni membership does not include access to the library's computers, photocopiers, bookable study rooms.

To arrange access as a member, please complete the online registration formYou will need to create a PIN for your account, please make a note of it as you will need it later. 

Please note that we are not able to accept registration in person and it may take up to four weeks to process a new sign-up request.

Once your registration has been verified and approved, you will receive the link to the university's e-Store to make payment and then your library account will be created. Please note that refunds cannot be given once the order has been placed.

You will be required to provide a photograph so that an ID card can be created.

For Avery Hill and Stockwell Street members, you will then be notified by email when your ID card is ready to collect.

Free Access to electronic resources

This option does not give you access to any of our libraries.  It only allow you to access the resources below.  If you wish to register for these, please contact the Alumni and Development Office

Electronic resources are  

  • Henry Stewart Talks (Biomedical & Life Sciences)

  • Henry Stewart Talks (Business & Management Collection)

  • JSTOR 

  • Sage Journals and Sage Knowledge

  • Alumni can also access a range of open access resources for study, research and lifelong learning. 

Once your registration has been verified and approved, you will receive login credentials to access Sage resources and JSTOR. Your account should be live in approximately 1 week. For questions relating to online journal access, please contact the Library Services Team.

NB Alumni online resources access does not include the full range of resources available to currently enrolled students due to licensing restrictions.

SCONUL

To access the University of Greenwich Libraries under the SCONUL access scheme:

  1. Apply to SCONUL Access scheme
  2. Wait to receive your SCONUL Access Approved email
  3. Forward the email with your home address and phone number to librarymembership@gre.ac.uk
  4. We will contact you with joining information

 
 
 

Clinical Staff in NHS Hospital Trusts

Clinical Staff in NHS Hospital Trusts for which the university provides education and training for nurses, midwives and other staff can join the Avery Hill or Medway library and borrow up to 5 items from the Health stock.

As clinical staff you will not have access to the Stockwell Street library.

If you wish to join the Avery Hill or Medway library please visit during core library hours – Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm and Saturday and Sunday, 11am – 5pm.

Eresources and Wi-Fi access

Due to the terms of our license agreements with our suppliers, we are unable to grant access to our eresources. This will be provided by your home institution. You would be entitled to use our study spaces during your visit and depending our borrowing entitlements, you may be able to  borrow 5 books. You can find more information about it here.

If your home institution participates in the eduroam service then you should be able to use this access the internet on your laptop or mobile device while you are visiting us. It is worth checking eligibility and ensuring your access options are configured in conjunction with your home university before you travel. Please see the eduroam website for further details.
