Your guide to our classrooms and AV equipment

Introduction

The following instructions relate only to the panel illustrated below.

8 Button AMX Panel (with volume dial)

8 Button AMX Panel (with volume dial) Instructions

PLEASE DO NOT INDIVIDUALLY TURN OFF SCREENS OR PIECES OF KIT. PLEASE USE THE "SHUTDOWN" BUTTON ON THE CONTROL PANEL.

Turning the system on:

On this type of button panel, if the system is turned off, the “Off” button will be highlighted. To turn the system on, you will need to press the “On” button and wait until the start-up sequence has finished – the “On” button will flash while the system starts up. Once the sequence has completed, the “On” button will be solid. You will then need to select your desired source – for example, for the room PC (on which you can log in with your Portal login) you will need to press the “PC” button – this will then turn solid to show this is the selected source.

Turning the system off:

To turn the system off, simply press the “Off” button – this will kickstart the shutdown sequence during which the button will be flashing. Once the sequence has completed, the “Off” button will turn solid. Please ensure you turn the system off at the end of your session (unless the following session’s lecturer is already in the room).

No doc cam is available in spaces with this type of button panel

Note: users will need to bring their own cables for these button panels

  • There are two external connection options: HDMI and VGA
  • To use the HDMI connection, plug the cable into your laptop and press the "Laptop" button
  • To use the VGA connection, plug the cable into your laptop and press the "Laptop" button. Remember to also plug in the sound connection attached to the cable
  • The system will auto-switch to the correct connection that is plugged in. Please do not use both connections at the same time
  • Mac users: for both VGA and HDMI, you may need to select the correct audio output in Sound Settings on your laptop

Volume adjustment

  • To turn the volume up or down, adjust the volume dial as needed

Blanking

  • To blank the projection while setting up (so the audience do not see your process, or perhaps for privacy reasons), press the “Blank screen” button. This will now flash to show the projection is blanked. When ready to present, simply press the “Blank screen” button again to unblank.
